Trex IPTV on MAG and Formuler boxes
Nothing to install and nothing to sideload. The box announces itself by MAC address and the portal hands it everything else.
Before you start
- A MAG or Formuler box
- The MAC address printed on the underside
- The portal address shown on your order
Read the MAC off the box
A label underneath carries it, in the form 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX, and the box repeats it on screen in the device information panel under System Settings. Checkout asks for it because on a portal the MAC is what identifies the line, so the two have to match exactly, colons included.
Open the portal settings
Press the settings button on the remote and work through System Settings, then Servers, then Portals. Older MAG firmware calls the same screen Portal Settings and puts it one level higher, but the two fields you want - a name and an address - look the same on every version of it.
Enter the portal address
Put the address from your order into Portal 1 and type any name you like beside it, since that label is only for you. The address is the bare line host: no trailing slash, no folder and no port typed on the end unless your order shows one. Leave Portal 2 empty.
If it still refuses, change host
A portal that loads to a blank list or an authentication error is usually pointed at a host that is not answering rather than at a dead subscription. Your order lists more than one. Change Portal 1 to the next address on it, restart from the menu again, and only contact support if the whole list behaves the same way.
Worth knowing
- Trex IPTV portal addresses are the line host itself - http://line.txteditors.site, http://line.catrex.site and the rest of the list issued with your order - with no path after the hostname. Your order and your account both print it as Portal URL.
- The MAC is the credential on this hardware. Treat it the way you would treat a password, and do not post it in a forum thread asking for help.
- Leave Portal 2 blank unless a second address was issued to you. An unused second portal is a source of confusing failures later.
- A MAG line is tied to that box. Replacing the box means a new MAC and a message to support, which is the one place where the usual move-it-anywhere rule does not apply.
Do not have a subscription yet?
The panel usually has a line built inside a couple of minutes of the payment clearing, and the credentials reach the confirmation screen and the inbox together rather than one before the other.
